Small Orchard Management Workshop

We’re pleased to offer a highly discounted rate per person for a 10-hour online training program, which includes five 2-hour modules on topics such as orchard establishment, tree pruning, insect and disease management, weed control, and IPM.

Normally, the full program costs $225. Current MAA Members may register for free. Non-member’s fee is $140.00. Become a MAA member for $55.00 and pay half price or $70.00 for the workshop.

If you’re interested, the registration fee must be paid by December 18, 2024 so we can send a class roster to the host at UMass.

MAA members who want to be sent the Zoom link to attend, please email us at montachusettag@yahoo.com

The sessions will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays, February 15 and 22, March 1, 22 and 29.

In addition to the Zoom sessions, there will be an in-person grafting workshop (2.5 – 3 hours), tentatively scheduled for mid-May 2025, at a convenient location, likely Phillipston. This hands-on session will apply concepts from the entomology module, focusing on a research initiative to develop low-cost, permanent trap trees through multi-cultivar grafting. We will provide complimentary scion wood for the grafting workshop. Participants can also engage in key hands-on activities concerning pest monitoring and management. More information would be provided at a later date.
